Do you ever feel left out when it comes to workout programs? Many “extreme” workouts target the young, the healthy, the in-shape, the people who don’t seem to need a fitness program. What about the rest of us?
Many people are ignored by the fitness industry.
When I was 80 pounds overweight I wanted to exercise (and I had done so in the past) but it was tough finding a program that I could do as a fat, out-of-shape, easily winded, busy mom.
I felt left out. Like there was an exclusive club for fit people but I didn’t know the secret handshake. Why wasn’t there something for ME?
There is a huge percentage of the population that is ignored by the fitness industry. And those people are people like I was: out-of-shape, new to fitness, busy, intimidated by the gym, hesitant, unable to afford a personal trainer, maybe older folks, maybe fatties like me.
Tony Horton to the rescue.
If you are someone in that neglected population, take heart. Tony Horton has devised a new fitness program just for YOU. It is called P90: The 90-Day Body Transformation for EVERYONE
Don’t panic! This is not to be confused with P90X. You may have seen P90X infomercials - and who hasn’t? – and frankly P90X is scary. Intimidating. X-treme, even. I’ve done parts of P90X, but many workouts and moves were, and still are, out of my league.
P90, rather, is your “on switch” to fitness. This is the starting point. This is a structured program for complete beginners. This is a program where you won’t have to modify all the moves. This is for YOU.
P90 is the re-invention of Tony’s first program, Power 90.
Power 90 was created 15 years ago and has sold millions of copies. But the new P90 is a more sophisticated and modern version of the original P90. “We’ve learned a lot about functional fitness and core fitness and sequencing exercises so people get the most out of exercise,” says Tony Horton, its creator. P90 has evolved with the times.
P90 is unique because it was designed to appeal to ALL ages and fitness levels.
When Tony and the crew were planning the P90 program they specifically looked at the demographics of people who were struggling to get fit, and that includes teenagers all the way through people in their 70’s.
The extreme, intense moves that are a part of other programs (like the wildly successful P90X) were removed so that EVERYONE can participate without feeling they have to modify the exercises.
P90 is for you “whether you’re in high school or in college, or a new mom, or a guy who’s been overwhelmed with work and hasn’t been able to find a way to get fit. Or you’re intimidated by the gym and can’t afford a trainer,” offers Tony. “Or maybe you’re 60 and you feel like your time has come and gone…none of that is true. It’s for anyone and everyone.”
Beachbody CEO, Carl Daikeler makes the bold claim, “this is the one program above and beyond anything we’ve created that’s accessible to EVERYBODY.” That means you. And me.
Why is P90 effective?
P90 consists of simple, doable, and EFFECTIVE workouts, designed to give you results in 90 days.
Unlike P90X, where you are thrown into extreme workouts from day one, P90 eases you into the habit of daily exercise. It uses a technique called Sectional Progression. That’s a formal term (that I will forget immediately, by the way) which means you build a great base level of fitness, become familiar with the moves, create good habits, and grow in confidence first.
For the first 30 days the workouts are just 25 minutes. Tony explains, “the first workouts are short because we understand you’re just trying to learn, trying to adapt, and trying to change your lifestyle.”
In month two, the workouts increase to 35 minutes because you’re READY to move forward. The extended workouts make sure you achieve the results you want.
The final phase, month three, the workouts add an extra ten minutes, but by now you’re practically a pro. You can handle ten more minutes. And your body will love the results.
Is P90 truly for EVERYONE?
My copy is on the way and I can’t wait to test it out. I like the idea of shorter, less extreme workouts. I want to increase my fitness and grow in strength, without unduly stressing my body. I am curious to see my 90 day results, and I’d love if you share YOUR results with me if you go through the program.

I tried this new system; and to be honest, I think the modifier could do better modifications. People just starting out may not be able to hold a plank or do a pushup - let alone a plank where you have to move back and forth. The modifier does moves that are pretty difficult for a beginner, in my opinion. Would have also been nice to have a routine where you didn’t need the bands on your door.

Hi Val!
I agree about the bands - I’d rather use weights than attach a band to the door. Sorry you thought the modifier was too advanced. We all start at different levels, and I’m sure when I was starting out 80 pounds ago, I would have been able to do much of anything. In those cases, you just do what you can. Soon enough you will be keeping up with the modifier, and then with the rest of the group. It’s not a competition, it’s just you moving your body to the best of your ability. I hope you don’t let your experience discourage you
