It’s HERE! Cize is available for purchase right now through Team Beachbody. Get ready to #CizeItUp
Get ready for a dance party.
Tired of squats, lunges, push-ups, and boring cardio? Then pay attention because you’re about to look forward to working out! Shaun T goes back to his dancing roots and makes losing weight an “experience.” You’ll be livin’ and sweatin’ to hot new moves and great music!
Confession…. I may be a little biased. I love watching Shaun T videos. I actually enjoy doing most of them too, particularly Hip Hop Abs and Rockin’ Body. Shaun T is hot, hunky and confident. What’s not to love?
I’m a Dancing and Cardio Queen at heart, so I was thrilled to hear Shaun T is back with another dance series. This article will break EVERYTHING down for you. I’ll review the workouts (and try not to drool over my computer), the meal plan, the before and after results. I’ll answer every conceivable question you might have about the program…. eventually.
Cize was released at Beachbody Summit, our national convention, and now it’s available to you.

And if you think you can’t dance, don’t worry. Shaun breaks down the routines, step-by-step, move-by-move, and builds them into a full dance workout. And at the end, you’ll get to CIZE IT UP to songs from Shaun’s playlist. You’ll be so focused on mastering the moves that for 35–40 minutes you’ll forget you’re actually burning fat and calories, and getting in the best shape of your life.
“Don’t say you can’t dance…because anyone can dance…” —Shaun T
OK, here’s your chance to prove Shaun T right. Check out this one-minute video clip of instruction from the Cize workout. I promise you’ll be able to follow along!
Who is this workout for?
Beachbody claims Cize is for people who can’t dance, dancers, your grandma. I guess that means EVERYONE.
In reality, I would recommend Cize for people who like cardio, who like to dance, who like their workouts to be FUN. So if you like Zumba, or traditional aerobics or Hip Hop Abs, you will love Cize.
If you like lifting weights only, it’s not for you.
Can a beginner do Cize?
Yep. Cize is a flexible workout in that you can control the amount of intensity. So it’s great for beginners and those of us who have some fitness background can ramp it up for the very beginning. It would also be a good choice for someone just getting back into fitness after a break.
Is CIZE designed for people with a lot of weight to lose?
Cize was not designed for people with a lot of weight to lose, but it’s a great choice for an obese person. You can modify as much as you need. Almost everyone can march in place or step side-to-side to the beat. Likely you can do much more than that.
Modifying the workout has to do more with your level of fitness than the amount of weight you have to lose. It would be a good choice for someone who is just starting her fitness journey.
Is there a modifier?
No. A modifier is not necessary because Shaun T breaks down the moves into their most basic form. You can keep it super simple as he demonstrates in the beginning, or totally rock out.
How is CIZE different from Shaun T’s other dance workouts, like Rockin’ Body and Hip Hop Abs?
“One difference is that these routines are made to the songs, where as in Hip Hop Abs and Rockin’ Body, it didn’t really matter what song you were listening to or what track was on,” says Shaun T. “Hip Hop Abs and Rockin’ Body are very watered-down movements and fitness-oriented dancing, where CIZE is more like you’re dancing in a music video. It’s a different range of motion you don’t normally get. It will increase flexibility, make your legs stronger and help in every single exercise you do.”
Do you learn choreography in each video?
Yes. Each video will start with 30-35 minutes of learning the moves in a progression. Each move is combined and practiced over and over so when it comes time to put the moves in a routine you’ve already got it down. The progressions are done to instrumental-type music. You get the “good music” when you perform your entire dance routine at the end of the workout.
Is Cize a good workout for people with bad knees?
As someone with two bad knees, I can say YES, Cize works for those of us with knee issues. Of course everyone is different, so listen to your body, but as of this writing (pre-release) I’ve done the complete “You Got This” workout. I did not have to modify anything. It was extremely knee-friendly.
And FYI, the other Shaun T dance workouts, Hip Hop Abs and Rockin’ Body, are both knee friendly as well.
Why did Shaun T create Cize?
“I wanted people to understand why I love dance. It’s my passion,” shares Shaun T. “I post videos on my Facebook page where I’m doing choreographed dance routines and they get thousands of views and comments. The amazing responses inspired me to show people that they can dance.”
What’s the music like?
The music changes throughout the routines. “I picked out every single track and kept the beats similar,” says Shaun T. “Some of my favorites are Chandelier by Sia, Pass that Dutch by Missy Elliot and Lose my Breath by Destiny’s Child. These are songs you probably didn’t even know you could dance to, but now you know what to do with them!”
Here’s the playlist:
- “Hands in the Air” by Timbaland
- “Treasure” by Bruno Mars
- “Lose My Breath” by Destiny’s Child
- “Problem” by Ariana Grande
- “Pass That Dutch” by Missy Elliott
- “Chandelier” by Sia
- “Headsprung” by LL Cool J
Is this just for ladies or can guys Cize too?
Cize is definitely for anyone who likes to dance. Shaun T says, “I also wanted guys to know that dance isn’t just for women!”
Is Cize just cardio or is there a strength component?
Cize is a cardio workout or, as Shaun T calls it, “power cardio.” This isn’t a muscle building workout - like Body Beast, but your muscles are being worked through the different movements and isolations. It’s more of a weight-loss sculpting routine that you get just by dancing. (I personally will be combining Cize with weight training, likely from the 21 Day Fix.)
You definitely get a core workout. As of today I’ve done two of the routines several times and can feel it in my abs. No six pack yet, but I’m trying …
Mini Review: “You Got This” Workout
You Got This, a 40 minute workout is available now (June 1st, 2015) exclusively on Beachbody on Demand. I’ve done the entire workout and wanted to share my thoughts.
It’s a fun workout, not overly challenging, so good for beginners. You spend the first 30 minutes learning choreography, one move at a time. So you learn the “pendulum” and repeat. Then add the second move and repeat the two. By the time the last piece of the dance is added on, you’ve memorized the choreography.
Shaun T’s cueing is impeccable. He knows how to teach people to dance. The only thing I found a bit odd was that we always started on the left lead which is very strange to anyone who has done dance (or any type of aerobic) video workouts. I’ve been doing workout DVD’s since back in the day and it was interesting to start on the left.
The teaching part of the routine is done to instrumental type music. I’ll be honest, it was a bit boring. But the actual dance at the end was to an energizing dance pop song.
This is one of those workouts, in my opinion, that you get out of it what you put in. If you are just marking the moves, you won’t have a huge calorie burn. But shake your groove thing? Then you can potentially torch calories.
I was a little surprised at my personal calorie burn because it didn’t seem like I was working very hard, but I burned about 280 calories in 40 minutes which is on par with a TurboFire workout for my body size. So you are definitely getting a good workout.
Cize unboxing by Shaun T.
I “unboxed” Cize when I purchased my kit at our Beachbody Summit, but it’s more entertaining to watch Shaun T share the goods with y’all….
