Yes, you will earn points for walking, running and lifting weights. But you can also chalk up more activity points for non-fitness activities like cooking, yardwork or cleaning house. Play an instrument? You can earn points for playing guitar – woo hoo!

We all like freebies, right? The points you accumulate on EveryMove earn you rewards, like deep discounts on name brand products, or even charitable donations. One of the rewards I earned was donating $1 to cancer research. It feels good to know that just my normal activities can go to a good cause.
EveryMove sparks friendly competition.
There is a Leaderboard where you can compare your standings with everyone, or you can filter to see your progress with people “like you,” those in the same city, sharing the same employer or gym. This feature appeals to my competitive spirit. How can I be in 8th place for points earned this month among people in my city? Time to go for a walk, grab my guitar or dust the knick knacks. Literally “every move” helps you earn more points!
While it is simple and effortless to sync EveryMove with my Bodymedia Fit, I don’t earn as many points as I would if I entered them manually. The Bodymedia Fit calculates all the calories I burn (so doing housework and playing guitar are figured into the calorie burn), but the only data it syncs with EveryMove are the steps I take. So essentially activities like yoga, pilates, and channeling my inner rock goddess do NOT figure into my EveryMove points. EveryMove may not accurately reflect how active I truly was on a given day.
It’s a trade-off – more points equals more time invested by me entering those points, or do essentially NOTHING and rack up points and earn discounts and freebies or charitable donations.
Being a super busy person, I choose to let my competitive spirit chill a bit and just let Bodymedia Fit do all the work syncing my data. I’ll play guitar for fun – not for points!
There is really no reason not to take EveryMove for a test drive. If you already have an activity tracker like a Fitbit or Nike+, your data will automatically sync. So do NOTHING and earn discounts and rewards.
If you choose to enter in your activities manually you will not only get the same rewards, but will be motivated by the cool badges, charts and leaderboards.
